Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a mum to Jake in the Kooka’s room and Ava who will be starting in the Wombats in January. I am a Software Test Architect at Macquarie Bank supported by the best stay at home father Stephen Swan.

What’s your role on the committee?

I am the treasurer and help out on the Fund Raising committee.

What does that involve?

As treasurer I set the budget for the year ahead based on last years figures, and plans for the coming year. I then track the actual spend against the forecast with all the information supplied by Vicki.

The fundraising is mostly planning and helping out with our 3 to 4 events through the year, the Easter picnic, the Trivia night the Garage Sale and the Movie night. Helping out could be manning a stall, setting up for an event, clearing up or sourcing prizes for the trivia. We all work as a team to keep the work to a manageable level.

Why did you nominate for the role?

In my first year I volunteered to assist on the finance and the fund raising committee as I love to organise and keep to a budget – I’m from Northern England you know!

What is the biggest opportunity for the centre to improve?

I think we have a wonderful community and excellent educators – I think we just need to look at how we bring the centre up to date to create a stimulating and safe environment for our children to reach their potential and most importantly have fun!
