Meet the Committee: Connor Moore

We have decided to reinvigorate the “Meet the Committee” series. Kicking off for the late 2015 edition is Connor Moore, convenor of the Web and Comms Sub-committee. Look forward to more in the coming weeks…

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a single parent of 2 busy boys Felix and Noah. Felix is a Kangaroo leaving at the end of 2015 and Noah will start as a Wombat in 2016. I work 4 days a week managing a team of 26 people at the Family Court in the city.

What’s your role on the committee?

I am the convenor of the Web and Comms sub-committee and I’m also a member of the Social and Fundraising sub-committee.

What does that involve?

Managing some aspects of the website, writing content, liaising with the director and other members of the Social and Fundraising sub-committee. Assisting with social events…baking, baking and some more baking.

Why did you nominate for the role?

Not knowing much about website management I put my hand up at the AGM in February in order to get more involved in the day to day running of the centre. Its been a bit of a learning curve but makes me feel involved in my son’s day to day life and engaged with his carers and peers.

What is the biggest opportunity for the centre to improve?

Styles St has a great atmosphere and enormous commitment from staff and parents alike. Improvements to the physical spaces would enrich the experiences for staff and the kids. Its a long term project but worth investing in. Just needs lots of fundraising to bring the goal closer….I think I just signed myself up for more baking!
