Last week the educators attended a training session; How to include Aboriginal art in our Program with Jess from Koori Curriculum. Jess inspired us to use these aspects of Aboriginal culture to present learning opportunities that reflect the children’s interests.
After this training the Wumbat team decided ‘story rocks’ (rock/stones depicting images and used to tell a story) would be a great addition to their program. They used them at the literacy table to tell the story of ‘Going on a Bear Hunt”! Children were able to sequence the story for the pictures independently, building their understanding of a structure of a narrative.
